Rodin exhibit at the Kunsthaus Zürich and Kannon exhibit
at the Rietberg Museum.
Two of the many exhibition highlights in the upcoming
Zürich art scene will feature Auguste Rodin and Kannon. “The Kiss;” “The
Thinker” and “The Burghers of Calais” by Rodin will be on display at the
Kunsthaus Zürich. Kannon, known for his Buddhist art will be available after
a three-year renovation at the Rietberg Museum.
Only a few of Kannon’s 7th to 14th
century works on display from February 18 – April 9, 2007 have ever been seen
outside of Japan. Along with the Kannon exhibit, the Rietberg Museum’s new
building, “The Emerald” will show off its glass pavilion’d spectacular
architecture.
Together with the Musee Rodin in Paris and the Royal
Academy in London , the Kunsthaus Zürich will proudly display a selected
cross-section of Rodin’s works from all over the world and rarely seen pieces
from the Rodin estate. On the Kunsthaus’s façade, Rodin’s “Gates of Hell”
has been meticulously restored to its previous magnificience.
