Perhaps you want to take a ski vacation but don’t want the expense of a hotel. You can rent an apartment in a vacation destination of Switzerland or the Tyrol. Interhome to the rescue.
In a nutshell, Interhome specializes in renting privately-owned vacation accommodations. It has contracts with 15,000 property owners in 21 counties. For instance, in France they have 5,000 properties; Switzerland and Spain 3,000 each and in the Netherlands only four.
To see if the system worked I clicked on www.interhome.us and up came their home page giving me a choice of countries and regions. I know Austrian skiing pretty well so I clicked on Austria and the Voralberg region. It then asked me which resort community in the Voralberg I wanted, so I selected the Montafon. It also needed to know a date, how many people and the quality of the lodging…as in 3, 4 or 5 stars. I selected the 3-4 star range and within seconds up came 14 properties in the Montafon priced from $347.00 to $947.00 in USD.
Pretty neat I thought. I then clicked on the photo of one of the lodges and a ton of local information and more photos. Frankly, I was impressed.
For the record. Interhome is a “100% subsidiary of Hotelplan” and one of the larger tour operators in Europe. As I personally have not utilized this service myself I can’t attest to the quality and service first hand, but it sure looks like it’s worth checking out.
