First off, I left one word out of the title. It actually should say, The World Ice Golf Championship 2008.
If you’ve read my article on Golfing Malaysia you’ll know that I’ve already recommended that you head to Malaysia for the Golf Inter-Team Amateur Championship. That’s still my recommendation, but first you can tune up in Uummannaq, Northern Greenland.
Uummannaq, 367 miles north of the Arctic Circle will again be host to this unique event in March 2008. But not everyone can play in this spectacular event…only those with an authentic handicap of 18 or lower are eligible to take part in the two day tournament. World Ice Golf Championship 2007
Without going into too much detail you should be aware that it is a 36 hole competition that will run over two days. The first day has been set aside for practice and then the real deal happens on glacier ice. Because it is a real glacier the course changes from year to year so it really does no good to memorize the last year’s course—it’s history. Literally.
You may check all this out by contacting the World Ice Golf Committee, Greenland;
PO Box 202; DK-3961 Uummannaq, Greenland.
You may also email them if you wish on icegolf@golfgolfonice.com/.
There is also a website to check it out on. www.golfonice.com/ that has a 10 minute movie to get your blood flowing.
